What is Ice Water Hash (Bubble Hash)?
To understand what rosin is you first need to know about Ice Water Hash. Ice Water Extraction (IWE) is when you take the ice, water, and cannabis flower and put it into a vessel. After agitating the cannabis in the vessel using the ice, the trichomes of the cannabis plant get suspended in the water. We then drain the water through a series of filters trying to only catch the fully intact gland heads of the trichrome while leaving as much waste and bio-contaminants behind as possible. This is then dried using either forced air or a freeze-drying process. After it is done drying you are left with a pure substance known as ice water hash or “bubble” hash.
Rosin - Fresh Press
To create rosin the gland heads are put into a food-grade mesh pouch that is wrapped in parchment paper and then squeezed at high pressures and low heats. This process removes the husk of the gland head and pushes the liquid out. We cool that liquid leaving us with a smoke-able substance most consider the purest expressions of the plant to date. That is what we call rosin!
Rosin - Cold Cure
Cold Cure rosin is fresh press that has been whipped up into a badder like consistency. In order to create Cold Cure you need to take fresh press rosin, lightly stir or “whip” it up and set in a room temperature environment. Whipping the rosin can help with the stability, aesthetics, as well as sometimes off-gassing unwanted terpenes.
