Hemp and cannabis both share the taxonomic classification of Cannabis sativa. Within the United States, plants with less than 0.3% THC by dry weight are labeled hemp; plants with more than 0.3% THC are labeled cannabis.
A psychoactive substance is any chemical that produces mind-altering effects like changes in mood, perception, cognition, or behavior. Non-psychoactive products still produce feelings within the body without altering the perception of the mind. THC has psychoactive properties for which each person has a different tolerance, whereas CBD is non-psychoactive.
A full-spectrum extract pulls much more than just CBD from the cannabis plant. It includes CBD oil, any other cannabinoids, terpenes, and sometimes even additional plant lipids or other compounds. Quite literally, the extract contains the full spectrum of compounds that can be beneficial overall wellness.
